Watch for new information on 2014 coaches coming soon.
Growing up in Beaumont, I started competitively swimming at age 8 in summer league. At 10, I placed first at TAGS, setting a state record in the 50 yard breaststroke. Since then, I’ve competed in state, zone, all star, and national meets setting several state records and national rankings along the way. At the age of 21, I started coaching for the Nederland YMCA Swim Team (all placed 1st or 2nd at champs), leading to coaching the BCC/BPM Swim Team in Beaumont for 3 more season. After moving to Austin in 1993, I swam for and coached masters swimming at Austin Aquatics for almost 8 years, I organizing and coaching several Danskin triathlon clinics, I mentored the Barton Creek West summer league coaches in 2003, I coached various groups at both Nitro locations in 2011 and 2012 assisting with the National Team while head coach Tim O’Brien attended the Olympic Trials and preparing end of season national team athletic scholarship recipients, preparing them technically, physically, and mentally for the rigors of college swimming. After starting a swim team at Reagan High School in 2012, Austin ISD called me to coach the Bowie High School team, replacing the infamous Bob Button.
Beside swimming and coaching almost daily, Coach Lackey enjoys playing with his kids, cycling (on/off road), golf, disc golf, water polo, bowling, racquetball, sailing, wake boarding, K1 racing, and much more.
Hi, I am Abby Meyer and I am excited to be an assistant coach for the Shady Hollow Stingrays this summer. I have grown up in Shady Hollow and have been swimming for the Stingrays since I was 5 years old. I began year round swimming at the age of 9 years old and have swum competitively for Longhorn Aquatics, Nitro, and Bowie High School. I am a senior at Bowie High School and Captain of the swim team. I will be swimming in college and plan on studying physical therapy. My love of swimming started at a young age and I am looking forward to sharing my passion and talents with the swim team. I look forward to working with each and every one of the swimmers and having a great summer! Peace, love, swim fast!
Hi, my name is Anissa Morales. I am finishing up my senior year at Bowie High School and will be attending St. Edward’s University this Fall. I have been swimming with the Shady Hollow Stingrays since I was seven years old. This past year was my fourth year on the Bowie Swim team, where I was selected to be a team captain. I have also had the opportunity to swim multiple years on club swim teams, where I have learned different techniques from various coaches. I look forward to helping the younger swimmers improve their strokes, swimming with my peers, and having a fun and exciting swim season.
Let me start by saying that I am truly honored to be apart of the Shady Hollow Stingrays this year. I was on the team for over a decade and had always looked up to the coaches in the past. All throughout my life I've always been active in sports, whether it be swimming, football, basketball, running, tennis, weightlifting, even was on a paintball team for a few years. I've always had a competitive drive that had to be satisfied. I have always put my all into every thing I've ever done, I believe that there is only one way to do any thing, all or nothing.
In high school I started out playing football and basketball but suffered a torn ACL in my left knee (second time) and decided to go back to swimming. I have always had a natural ability and love for this particular sport, and continued on to be come All-American and All-State through Bowie high school.
Currently I'm employed at General Nutrition Center, or GNC, take your vitamins kids! ; )
My hopes are very high for the team this year and am ready to see the competitive nature come out in the kids! And have some fun too!
Hey guys, I’m Rachel Ard, and I have been part of the Stingray family for 5 years. Before I swam with the Stingrays, I was on the Barracudas for 3 years as well as with Texas Longhorn Aquatics. I am finishing my freshman year at Texas A&M and am super excited to come home and spend my summer coaching all of my little Stingrays! This year I was very involved with a student run leadership organization called FLiP (Freshman Leaders in Progress), where I have learned a lot about myself and my leadership abilities as well as how important teamwork, communication, and commitment is in order to have a successful team. Ever since I was a small child swimming has always been one of my passions. This summer I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you to not only help you improve your technique and swimming skills but also make sure that you are having a blast along the way!
Hello! I'm Coach Riley. I've been an active member of the Shady Hollow Stingrays since I was 8 years old. I've had the great privilege of learning from my outstanding coaches in the past and I am looking forward to putting the things I've learned into action! I was a lifeguard last summer at our community pool and it was incredibly rewarding. It gave me a chance to bond with the community on a new level. In the next few years I hope to break Coach Adrian's freestyle relay record and continue to contribute to the success of the team. This year I will be a junior in high school. I have been a part of the nationally ranked Bowie High School marching band since my freshman year and each year seems to only get better. This year I took on a new leadership role: section leader of the baritone section. Under this role I am a subject to greatness. I have a responsibility to keep the section responsible, prepared and satisfied. Also, this year I got accepted into a spectacular organization at my school called PALs (Peer Assistant Leadership). In this organization we travel to local elementary schools and help children who are having trouble with school, having trouble at home or even kids who just need a friend. That's basically everything about me. See y'all this summer and remember:
"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit."--Aristotle
Hello, my name is Trevor Shaw and this next year I will be a senior attending Veritas Academy. I have been a part of the stingrays for 6 years now, from the beginning when I hardly knew how to doggy-paddle, to now swimming as many events as possible. Athletics have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Sports I have participated include swimming, wrestling, football, track, and lacrosse. At my school, I am an active participant in various leadership and student life programs. Though I am young and have much to learn, I am excited to coach young swimmers the art of swimming. I consider myself lucky not only to be able to coach the stingrays, but to help coach such great and interesting young men and women into being the best athletes they can be.
Can't wait to see y'all at the pool!
